On several occasions, when I received a massage, I got a blocked nose (swollen mucous membrane) after a while when l was lying face down. Sometimes the nose was slightly blocked, sometimes completely blocked. Why does this happen? (I never worried about it, but since this happened to someone I did a massage on recently, I am wondering now.)

Re: stuffed up nose - why?
Mon, May 18, 2009 - 10:33 AMYou're pushing body fluids throughout the body while giving a massage. The sinus cavities (cheeks and forehead) are prime places for fluids to gather, especially while face down. It typically goes away after the person has been flipped to their back or after getting off the table. -
