I'm using the headrest that came with my Earthlite table, but would like to upgrade it to something better. Any suggestions for the best one out there? Is the new Earthlite much of an upgrade? Are they all set to standard as far as the distance between the poles?
Thanks,
Olivia

Re: New head rest?
07/20I've heard that the memory foam face rests are supposed to be great. I have no experience with them; maybe someone else will chime in.

Re: New head rest?
07/21I had visited my friend and she has this wonderful face cradle Earthlite Self Adjust face cradle. www.earthlite.com/caressFacecradle.htm it seemed to reduce that sinus issue when face down for a period of time. Hope that helps. Good luck, let us know what you find out. -

Re: New head rest?
07/27Earthlite has two that I'm looking at. The one in your link, and then this other one:
www.earthlite.com/flexrestFacecradle.htm
I think I'm going to vcall them and ask what's the real difference. Flex-Rest or Caress. -

Re: New head rest?
07/27Caress is formulated to reduce sinus pressure.
I'm looking for a new head rest as well for my golden ratio table. I was receiving work on it last night and it's simply too wide for many faces (including mine) and I was sinking through and getting stuffy.
So the memory foam ones are no good? It looks like a challenge to find a new/ improved one for golden ratio tables.

Re: New head rest?
07/28I was wondering what Earthlite return policy is, don't know if its worth it but if you purchased both Flex-rest and Caress and test them out. This way you can do some real life comparisons with your clients. Just a thought... I'd be interested in what you finally get.

Re: New head rest?
07/22I have had clients who have used the memory foam they say it is real nice a first but it is very hot material...they feel their face get to hot.
Another client as a gift purchase a faux sheepskin cover for my cradle and that was an inprovement. I later purchase a used table to add to have mutliple tables for teaching. this table was what Oakworks called a doeskin finish...when I bought my first oakworks 17 years ago I did all the bells and whistles...except the upgrade in vinyl...I thought is will always be cover go for the standard vinyl. This doeskin table I took the cradle cushion off the doeskin table and brought it to my oakwork+ the kitchen sink table and immediantely people began to tell me how wondeful the improvment was...without being told. this upgrade vinyl stretches where as the standard vinyl just depresses with weight. the upgrade vinyls depress and disperse to allow more comfort or conforms around the face, allowing it to actually keep it's features Ha! what every you end up with, if there is a vinyl upgrade I would do it in a heartbeat!!
Good luck... -

Sheepskin
07/30You mentioned a fake sheepskin cradle cover. This is changing the topic a bit.
I've never been able to grasp using sheepskin because you can't toss them in the laundry. I bought a sheepskin table warmer and have never used it for that reason. I use a lotion which isn't as bad as an oil but particularly for a face cradle... I wouldn't want to put my face on one of those. Am I the only one who feels that way? -

Re: Sheepskin
07/30most of the "sheepskin" covers are fake and can be washed

Re: New head rest?
07/30i use a memory foam face cradle with a faux sheepskin cover...it works great...people don't get too hot because of the cover -

Re: New head rest?
08/01yes mine is fake also...and very washable but I still put a cover on it for each person...not skin on fur...
I just had a friend leave a message today she had bought a twin memory foam and has traced her cradle onto it and cut it out and has offered to cut me one....based on your post Go Go I am trying it out!!
Wal mart has these pretty cheap now... -

Re: New head rest?
08/01yes, in addition to the fake sheepskin cover, i would agree that you still need a pillowcase or whatever
walmart memory foam? now that's creative thinking!
i got lucky and had another therapist gift her memory foam face cradle to me....score! -

Re: New head rest?
08/01I wash my sheep skin table cover. I never thought I couldn't. I use a gentle soap and a gentle cycle. I guess I never knew one could not wash sheep.....they get wet in the rain and don't shrink or get gnarly where I come from....chuckle, chuckle.
The info on the head rest is perfect or me. I am looking right now for a more comfy one that helps stops the nasal stuffiness.

Re: New head rest?
08/04I should have been more clear - my sheepskin table pad is heated.
I use Biotone Advanced Therapy lotion though, and sometimes that will get through a sheet, even though I use it sparingly. -

Re: New head rest?
08/04well perhaps you could just put some kind of material between the sheepskin table warmer you have and the sheet...something washable...you might even be able to fashion a material into a table skirt...thereby protecting your sheepskin and getting a table skirt...just a thought

Re: New head rest?
08/06I have a memory foam and sometimes it spreads and the client presses on the base of the headrest. The velcro is sewn onto the fabric that covers the foam and is not glued in place. I alternate back and forth. If I have a lot of neck work with them face down I use the original pad.
The sheepskin offers a buffer for the seam.
The earthlite self adjusting pronged base looks good.
Many are now interchangeable. Earthlite, and oakworks work together, as well as the one Sams was selling last year.
Some are not . I think the golden ratio at one point was different.
